BODY AND APPEARANCE

1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?

6’ (about 182cm). In terms of build, he’s pretty lean but steady.

2. How old is he?

26 years old.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?

He has pretty neutral posture. HE doesn’t shrink, but he doesn’t throw his shoulders back either. He tends to keep his chin down slightly, and his body language tends to convey a feeling of being a sidekick towards others, like he’s more comfortable playing second fiddle. He always turns to frame others.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

Fit, although it’d be generous to call him athletic! He would not be able to run a marathon, but he could do a 5k without any problems. He’s strong enough that he can open all his own jars and flip a wok and stab people efficiently. What more does one need?

Other than that, he has no unusual physical conditions to note.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

Relaxed and self-confident most of the time, so long as he isn’t trying to impress anybody. If he is, his movements become positively puppy-like in how eager he is.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?

He’s good-looking in a non-outstanding sort of way. Although most people would probably describe him as conventionally attractive, it’s not to the point where it sets him apart from others. He clearly takes care of his appearance, though, and people probably notice that.

He doesn’t necessarily care about looking good so much as he cares about projecting an image of being clean-cut and as organized as he looks.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Clear. In terms of coloration, medium with olive tones.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.

He’s a brunet; his hair is a chocolate-y color with just a hint of auburn to it if he’s out in the sun a lot. It’s generally pretty soft to the touch, and looks in style to be something like this. He does it up sometimes too!!

9. What color are his eyes?

Hazel; they look a medium brown most of the time but there’s a green sheen in there too. His mother was half-East Asian, half-Russian in heritage, and most people will phenotypically nail him as being part-Asian because his eyes are almond-shaped.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

His facial features are rather soft/muted overall.

11. What are his chief tension centers?

He unconsciously tends to rub at his non-dominant (left) hand when tense.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

He’s trendy and keeps an updated wardrobe. However, he leans towards a minimalist style so that he doesn’t have to continuously throw things out and buy new things. He would rather have a nice cut than a distinctive design.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

Yes to both! As mentioned above, he prefers for his clothes to fit him well rather above all else.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

He dresses business-professional for work – button-ups, blazers, ties, dress pants, etc.

When he dresses himself, he tends to go for a mix of casual and dressy: he’ll layer a peacoat over something with a hood, or wear a T-shirt underneath a blazer.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?

Both tbh? Sometimes he’ll wear a skinny cut on his pants/jeans and he wouldn’t want to wear boxers with those in case the lines show, so he’d wear briefs.

He doesn’t go commando, I can say that for certain.

SPEECH

1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

Tenor, but on the lower end. I’m an Oosaka Ryouta fan, so just imagine his voice…

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

When he speaks, there’s a sense that he wishes to communicate, even if that’s not always the case (he bullshits quite a bit). He usually speaks softly and evenly; within sentences/phrases, his tone rarely shifts in a significant way. However, his mood can be read from how he chooses to say entire sentences/phrases.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

He has one of those “accents fit for radio”, which is to say no distinct accent, but he enunciates words very clearly. He always hits every syllable and has textbook pronunciation.

He also likes memes. Make of that what you will.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

English – fluent
Russian – beginner’s level (took it in college for a bit because of his part-Russian ancestry)
French – intermediate level (high school requirement)

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

No.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

He can bullshit for miles. He’s the kind of person who can speak about something without actually saying anything if he needs to take up speaking space.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Generally eloquent. However, he can be driven to hysteria because of his tendency to obsess and his ability to communicate pretty much goes to shit at that point.

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL

1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?

Book-smart. He absorbs facts pretty well.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

He is capable of making split-second decisions, but they are not guaranteed to be the best decisions. Still, it isn’t as if he stalls out completely if he has no time to think. If it comes down to it, he would rather make some bad decision than no decision in a down-to-the-wire scenario.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

It’s logical by his special brand of logic, generally speaking… that doesn’t say much, honestly. His reasoning is always internally consistent, but is kind of inherently externally wrong when you’re talking about a guy who thinks that killing others is his primary way of proving his continued living existence.

4. What kind of education has the character had?

College educated. He graduated with a major in sociology, minor in economics.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

KILLING PEOPLE and paralegal stuff idk. He knows a lot of random history facts. He’s the kind of person who would do great on Jeopardy, because he retains random trivia for no reason without trying.

He’d love to know more about human anatomy. He also wants to know more about philosophy.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

Extrovert insofar as he’s more energetic around people, but he’s not boisterous/loud/stereotypically extroverted.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

Pretty even-tempered, except when he goes into downright fits of hysteria. He is driven insofar as he’s a completionist.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

Relaxed, he tends to be open towards new people.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

React. The only significant times that he acts is when he’s, uh, gonna kill a person.

Flight.

He probably should be diagnosed with plenty of stuff, but haha. How does he deal with them? … Mostly just by acting on what he thinks is right anyway.

His sister’s death basically determined everything that came afterwards in his life.

Abandonment. Dying. Worthlessness.

Honestly, he doesn’t have any. He kind of lives for the sake of living more than anything else.

HE KILLS PEOPLE WHAT MORE CAN THERE BE.

RELATIONSHIPS

1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.

His father began to verbally abuse him out of fear. His step-mother had a good relationship with him, but she was too passive to defend him from his father. He doesn’t associate with his father outside of politeness/courtesy, but he’s in regular e-mail contact with his step-mother.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?

HAHA WELL. His sister being murdered in front of him was what sent him down the crazy spiral.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?

Nope.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?

Nope.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

He… doesn’t have a best friend… man this section is sad.

6. Does he have other close friends?

Finally a question I can answer yes to! He cycles through having close friends occasionally, but it often ends with him becoming disillusioned in them (his obsession makes him want to seek perfection in the people he devotes himself to, only to be disappointed that nobody is perfect) and eventually shedding them aside. Sometimes the other person will distance themselves from him upon sort of getting an idea of how much crazy there is within him.

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?

He gets along with people just fine. He will only make friends with people who are a bit… self-interested, to some extent. He would rather be a supporting figure to them, and not have to divulge anything about him. He does not like to be around people who want to know more about him.

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?

Nobody will ever replace his sister in his mind, but overall friends.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?

Depends on what point he’s coming from, either single or in a relationship.

His first crush was an ordinary playground sort of deal. His latest is a kumiho disguised as a human being. It would be more apt to describe his feelings towards it as infatuation than just a crush, though.

Somebody he can devote himself to entirely. To some extent, somebody he can take care of. He wants to be self-sacrificing to his loved one to the extreme, perhaps because he’s guilty at his sister self-sacrificing for him.

No, and he doesn’t care. Whatever his lover wants is fine.

He’s pansexual.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?

He likes sex, he would like to have it every once in a while. He could live without it, he can make do with his hands. It’s more about satisfying his partner than anything else.

He always wants to be on the giving end when it comes to sex, it’s about the pleasure of his partner. He is flattered and pleased when his partner shows concern for his pleasure as well, but he doesn’t want to 100% be on the receiving end of things. It makes him uncomfortable.

BELIEFS

Scorpio, and very well.

Neither, which is ironic since he’s got a strong spiritual sense.

Sort of. He believes that death proves that one is alive, that would probably be the core of his beliefs.

Indifferent. He thinks that people should let their beliefs clash to prove whose are superior.

All of his are stupidly arbitrary tbh, like he doesn’t like people who don’t like animals.

He lives comfortably enough. He saves plenty and thinks about his financial future.

Middle-class, and not really.

Studio apartment, by himself.

Do you consider “tools for killing people” a necessity? If not, those. He also plays video games and is an obsessive video game completionist.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?

He’s a paralegal, and yeah, he’s pretty good at it!

Murder and video games and doing whatever makes the latest target of his affections happy.

Four small meals a day. He’s very healthy.
